If we could fix one thing, in each of us…

If we could fix one thing, in each of us, it would transform the world we live in. It is the simplest thing to change yet we are blind to it… it is so deeply entrenched in our psyche, culture, and world we don’t even realize we do it or it exists. We believe if things changed outside of us, we would be happy. We believe if we had more money, a better job, a more exciting, committed or loving partner, THEN we would be complete. And, the problem is not to want more or better, it’s that we blame someone or something other than ourselves that we don’t have it or it doesn’t exist. Our happiness is our responsibility. No matter what changes, no matter how much we acquire or obtain, that emptiness and lack of is within us. What needs to change is easy, stop the “blame”. We blame terrorists for our fear but someone gets shot every day right here. We blame corporations for polluting the air but we buy and consume their products ceaselessly and don’t recycle. We blame the government because we don’t make enough money yet people don’t want to work… On and on… And almost everyone does it, even I. If we each truly took responsibility for ourselves, happiness would prevail because then things would change. They would have to. It would be our fault things are the way they are, not anyone else’s… © Jodi Healy

Intriguing. I love your point, but I couldn’t disagree more with the idea that’s it’s easy to change. If it were, we all would. Everyone gets “set in their ways.” Even those who desperately want to change often have to make many tries at it before they do. But again, I love and agree with your overall message. Best to you.

The process of change is NOT easy, it IS the hardest thing to do as a human being; to own your power and take responsibility for your “stuff”… but change itself is easy, it is simply making a decision to do it different… the path to get to the point of being able to make that decision is absolutely hard, painful, and difficult… but once you start the process of purifying it gets easier one step at a time (in the end it is our brokenness that is attracting or creating what we need to change, and also our experience of it that causes pain and difficulty)… I think it also comes to a point of hitting bottom or having enough, because once we do, we will do whatever it takes to be or get better or “change”… xo
