The ending of a relationship is the hardest thing most of us go through, whether we chose it or not… And the process of divorce just exacerbates it a thousand times over. Add lawyers to the mix, whose primary goal is to instigate and litigate, and it can destroy lives. Lawyers want you to fight, because they get paid when you do. They dramatize, sensationalize, and fear becomes the driving force. There are only two things that have to be decided in a divorce; custody and money/assets. Nothing else matters. Regardless of what state you live in and what laws apply, in the end money is decided, assets are divided and care of your children. I can assure you, if you get sucked into the drama you will not only lose a year of your life, but a friend (who at one time you chose to spend your life with). I don’t care who is right or wrong. It doesn’t matter. The relationship has already ended. Divorce is a battle no one wins. What matters is how you want to live going forward, and if you have children what is best for them … © Jodi Healy
